A Little Bit About Myself...

I was born and raised in Medina, N.Y., a small town between Buffalo and Rochester.  I was a certified band geek and an illustrious member of the "Van Crew".  I played trumpet from 4th to 12th grade in Concert band, Jazz band, Marching band, Orchestra, and, in my senior year, some friends and I formed a pep band to play at all the Medina football games, both home and away.  Needless to say that our team, the Medina Mustangs, went undefeated and won the state championship in our division.  I graduated from Medina Sr. High in 1989 and joined the Navy a couple of weeks later.  Shortly before graduating I submitted legal papers to have my last name changed to Albone.  This was done so that my Grandfather, who had only daughters, would have someone to pass down the family surname.

I was in the service for a little over ten years working in electronics and computers.  After two years of school in Orlando and Pensacola, Fla., I went to my first duty station at Pearl Harbor for a tour in subsurface direct support and spent the best three years of my career.  If you have never been to Hawaii, I highly recommend a vacation there.  If you do get a chance to visit, there is a small bar in Waikiki called Anna Bananas that you should check out.   When I was there it was home to one of Hawaii's best bands- The Pagan Babies.   My only regret from Hawaii is that I didn't take more pictures, but you can see some of the ones I did take in my photo album.  After a three year tour at "Club Pearl" I went to work in Maryland. While I was there, I became involved in various musical activities such as singing in the Bach Society of Baltimore and conducting a small Navy choir.  It was during this time that I discovered both the Maryland Renaissance Festival and my love for Irish and Celtic music.

For the last couple of years I was stationed on the island of Terceira in the Portuguese owned Azores archipelago.  I was assigned to the U.S. Forces, Azores (USFORAZ) Joint Staff as a System Administrator for a UNIX network and a Windows NT network.  For more information about the base you can visit the 65th Air Base Wing homepage.  The islands are roughly 700 miles off the coast of Portugal between Portugal and Washington, D.C.  The islands are beautiful and the people there are very friendly, yet it isn't a very touristy place.  So if you are looking for someplace to vacation off the beaten path, the Azores is the place to be.

Now I am out of the Navy and back in the U.S.  But where I'm living and what I'm doing is for me to know, and you to find out...so all you have to do is drop me a line and ask!
